What is pyramide paris?

The Pyramide Paris, also known as the Louvre Pyramid, is an iconic glass and metal pyramid located in the courtyard of the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. The pyramid was commissioned by former French President, Francois Mitterrand, and designed by architect I.M. Pei in 1984. The purpose of the pyramid was to provide a new entrance to the museum and to improve the visitor experience by creating a spacious, light-filled area. The pyramid is comprised of 603 rhombus-shaped and 70 triangular glass segments, and stands at 21.6 meters tall. It took almost three years to build and was inaugurated in 1989. Despite initial controversy and criticism, the Pyramide Paris has become an iconic symbol of Paris and is one of the most recognized landmarks in the world.
